Deleting same photo twice

Dear all,
I have set my d750 to work with two sd cards and the second slot being used to backup the first. I only shoot raw.
Surpisingly though I have to delete my photos twice and it looks like that first delete, delete photos from first slot and second delete deletes the shot from the second slot.
Which option do I miss?

"Backup" means "Copy" in this instance, as in make a backup copy from Slot 1 to Slot 2.

The setting you want for Slot 2, I believe, would be "Overflow".

You camera is working exactly the way it should. You have your first card setup as primary storage and the second card setup as backup storage. When you shoot a photo it writes the photo to both cards. If the camera deleted both the primary and backup photos with one delete command, this would defeat the purpose of having a backup. What if you accidentally delete the first photo, if it also deleted your backup, it would be gone forever (other than making a data restore which may or may not work and may cost you a lot of money). If you don't want to have to delete the photo drive, do not make your second card a backup.

This could be very practical specifically when someone makes a fuss about you taking pictures in public. You can show them you're deleting the file while keeping a copy to work with later...

Had not thought of that one. I do have a question though, Does using the 2nd slot as backup slow down the burst speed or number of shots before it does slow down? In other words any downside to using it for backup?

Sorry Don as I have no idea. I rarely shoot bursts...

I dont think it would slow down the burst speed, but the buffer might get filled up faster.

no idea as well. I need the second slot as backup since I shoot weddings.
