Cannot display file

I took some shots with my wife today, we previewed them on the camera's view finder and all was well. I got the camera home and tried to import them to my iPad and got an error, tried to put the card back in the camera and got "Cannot display this file." Tried on my MacBook same thing. Any idea what could have gone wrong or how I can fix it? This is what I see when I copy the photos on to my Macbook

3 of the files work and that's it.

It’s never needed anything before and the camera and my MacBook have the same problem. (Even though the camera displayed the pictures earlier)

Is there any way you can upload one of the files to Dropbox so we can look at an actual file? And the switch on the side of the card isn't stuck between lock and unlock by any chance, is it?

What you're seeing when reviewing images on the camera is a .jpg image embedded in the raw file and not the .nef file itself, which is probably corrupt. Possibly this was a one-time "glitch in the Matrix" that won't repeat itself, or it could be a sign the SD card is going south. The fact the images failed to render on different devices firms up my suspicion this is an issue with the memory card, but it's not absolute proof.

Do you ever format the card in-camera? If not, do it. If you do format in-camera, I would take this a step further and reformat the card in your computer. Be sure to follow that up with another format in-camera before using it. A full format in the computer will often reveal a failing card.

The micro sd in my phone got weird a few weeks ago. I lost one pic but it continued to work for new shots. I pulled it out, copied all my stuff to a new card and then tried to reformat the old card. It failed.
