Camera strap

I currently have a sling style strap and don’t care for it with my 18-140 and battery grip. What is everyone else using for a walk around strap?

What is it about the strap that you don't like? The fact that it screws into the bottom? Does it have anything to do with how well or bad the slide works?

I use the Black Rapid Cross Shot Breathe that fastens into the tripod socket. It is ambidextrous and works well. I also use a regular Tamrac strap that has padded leather behind the neck for comfort and fastens to the camera body strap lugs (strap no longer made).

And I ordered the Tamrac Tour Strap which is their new version of a slide strap. Am waiting for my local store to get one in.

Mine has a clip that detached and the connector goes to where the provided strap attaches and I find it awkward.

I have a Black Rapid and a Joby. The BR was the main one for a long time, but the way the Joby cinches up under my arm makes it the winner unless I'm carrying a 70-200 or a Tamzooka.

Here's a tip for using a Black Rapid regular sling strap: If you wear the camera on your right side, undo your belt and thread it over the rear BR strap behind the belt loop at 3 o'clock (right hip). That keeps the Black Rapid close to your body so the camera doesn't swing around too much, but you can still bring the camera right up to your face for quick shots.

I have Joby, which for a sling strap, I think I like the best, but my wife got me a Cotten rig for my birthday. It will carry two cameras, but I only use it for one. I am hooked on It. I carry my D700 with the 70-200 and it is great. Nothing bouncing around. It locks in place and a 90 degree turn and it unlocks.

I use a cane to walk and this rig is the only thing I can use and in a pinch, I could carry my bag or two cameras as well. All the weight pulls down evenly on my shoulders. I am also a big guy and all the slings rest on my neck more than my shoulder. I have one of their G3 rigs, but they are introducing a smaller version called the Skout soon.

I was not sure if I would like it. But when I can get out it is all I use and it comes with a small tether so when it is not locked in it is still attached to the rig.

I have the BosStrap and have been very happy with it. I use the tail so that it clips into one of the sides so that I can leave the tripod mounts attached all the time. going to have to try the trick about having my belt go through the strap so it does not bounce around. I normally have my hand on the camera so it is always ready to swing up and take a photo.

I also have a Peak Design Slide strap and really like it.

I have it paired with their Clutch Hand Strap. I keep the hand strap on the camera all the time and then just add the Slide if I am going out with my camera.

I've always wanted to try a different strap than the stock one for my D7200. After reading this thread and looking at numerous reviews, I pulled the trigger
on the Joby pro sling.
Just concerned about the weight of my setup with the stock 18-140 lens and a battery grip.
Fingers crossed.

I've had quite a few over the years. Black Rapid, Joby sling, Cotton, Peak Design. All great systems but I keep the Joby and Peak Designs. If I had to choose one of those two it would be PD due to the versatility of their system. If you hunt around you can probably find PD knock-offs. I can't speak to there quality but definitely cheaper. Happy Huntings.
