I just learned that Nikon has a sale on the D7200 body, two lens kit and one lens kit (18-140mm). These are the same prices as last years black Friday sale.

B&H has the D7200 body only for sale at $796.95 which is a really good price...and very tempting.

Currently I still use my D7100 mostly for birding and am starting to take some Tball photos. I bought it refurbished in July 2014. So it will be 4 years old this coming July. It only has 3280 shutter actuations on it. Seeing as Nikon is doing away with the dual card slot on the D7x00 series, would it be a good idea to get a newer body that *should* last for several years and sell my D7100?

Originally I bought my D7100 to shoot drama photos for my local high school. But I stopped doing that a while back and have gotten into birding and Tball. So I can see myself using a DX body more frequently now. If Nikon hadn't done away with the dual card slots on the D7x00, I wouldn't even consider it. And I really have no interest in spending money on a D500 though. I know it isn't a hue upgrade from D7100 to D7200. I'm mostly thinking about having a DX body for several more years without getting another one for a long time. There are absolutely no issues with my D7100, and it's never failed to work perfectly. Thoughts?

I saw the sale prices also. If I had the spare change right now, it would be a consideration to upgrade from my 7000. I also like having dual card slots.

Personally I wouldn't upgrade from the D7100 unless I just wanted another body.

Well, Cindy, I would say the bigger buffer in the D7200 could make a difference for wildlife, especially birds in flight. That's the reason I got the D7200 when it came out, even though the D7100 was a great camera. With the D7100 I could only shoot very short bursts. I missed opportunities with the D7100. I didn't realize how big a deal it was until I actually had the D7200 and started shooting with it.

If the single card slot is a deal breaker for you with the D7500, I guess that isn't for you. If I was looking to upgrade from a D7100 and didn't want to go all the way to the D500, that's the camera I would pick, though. This, again, is from a wildlife/sports perspective. Great autofocus and a big buffer mean lot to me.
