Camera stuck in Auto ISO mode

Hi,

I have a problem with the camera being stuck in the auto ISO mode in the PSAM modes.

Using the viewfinder I can use any ISO value I select.

But using the display the camera is stuck in the auto ISO mode.

The "Auto ISO sensitivity control" has been turned off.

I tried to reset the camera, but that didn't help.

I checked the manual thoroughly but couldn't find anything that helped.

I am not much of a photographer, so I would be grateful if somebody could help.

I don't understand exactly what you are seeing. When I change iso, I press and hold the iso button on the back of the camera. While the button is pressed, I watch the top lcd. Front command wheel toggles auto iso on/off. Rear wheel sets the value. This is done while holding the iso button (there is a menu item to make it a one hand operation.) Viewfinder should follow along and show the same. Are you doing it this way?

So, to clarify, when you change the ISO, the numbers are changing in the viewfinder but not in the control panel on top the camera or do you mean the LCD Monitor on the back during "live view?" Not that it matters much about "live view" just making sure we are all talking about the same thing.

Also, the words "auto ISO" are still appearing in the control panel after you turn off the feature?

When you shoot the image and review the information, does the ISO in the data reflect what you chose?

I probably can't help. Just trying to get some more information so somebody can help you out. Also, it helps me if I have problems.

Hi Ron,
Not sure which camera you have, but.
In P,A,S,M mode, ISO AUTO in both my NIKON D90 & Nikon D600 are grayed out, meaning not available.
However ISO AUTO is available in Scene, Flash & AUTO modes on top dials.
I can choose AUTO or any other ISO in those modes.
Bob.
