Using Sigma F2.8 EX DC OS lens in manual, need to set camera body to manual as well?

Greetings,

I know that we don't need to set camera's body to manual focus if using AF-S lenses. But what about in the case of this Sigma lens?

Thanks for any advice.

A little confused by your question, so I'll just say something about Sigma autofocus lenses and Nikon bodies. If you're wondering if the lens will focus the answer is yes, it will. If you're talking about manual focusing a Sigma lens on a Nikon body the answer is you only have to throw the switch on the body if the lens doesn't have its own focus motor. For example, with my 150-600mm, 105mm macro, 24-35mm, and 8-16mm, simply throwing the switch on the lens is enough. With my 15mm fisheye I need to throw the switch on the body from AF to M in order to turn the focus ring as it utilizes the focus motor in the body.

If you weren't wondering either of these things then remember it anyway, because one day you might. ;)

Thanks Jake, yes, my question pertains to what you were talking about. The user guide says the body need not be switched to manual focus to correspond with the manual focus setting on an "AF-S" lens. I just wanted to confirm if this same rule applied to this sigma lens. Thanks again.

Glad you got your answer @SilverSonic. Hope we see more of you. I have a D7200 and enjoy it quite a bit and also use a couple Sigma lenses.

Not sure how AF-S syncs up with what Sigma lenses but at least you have it sorted out. It's pretty obvious when you have the throw it. Truth is that you don't even need to throw the switch on the lenses on the other ones provided you use back button focus.
