Battery Usage

I can not get over the life of the battery in my D7200. Right now it says 34% and the number of shots so far is 2343 on that battery. Is everyone doing that well? I hope you are. What about some of the other cameras? How does that compare with D500, D750, D800E, etc.?

Both my D7100 and D750 get fantastic battery life.

It seems that with Nikon the more expensive the camera the better the battery life. Both my D7100 and D750 use the same battery and the D750 does better than the D7100

Interesting. I've not seen battery performance that low with my D7100 on any lens. Is it unique just to your Sigma 17-50? (assuming you have other lenses??)
There supposed to be an issue with that lens specifically and with other bodies too. With other lenses there is no issue.

My buddy shoots a 7Dm2 and Is constantly changing batteries and concerned about it. I never worry. I usually use it 2 days and it still has 50% charge...he has gone through 4 batteries at least! He doesn't like me teasing him about it...but that's my job!

I've witnessed/gotten a chuckle out of this phenomenon myself; so apparently it's not limited to the 7D MII. If memory serves the 7D MII is good for around 700-800 shots on a single battery while the D7200 and the D750 are rated for around 1,200 shots per battery; one of the best ratings in the industry.

One of the photogs I 2nd shoot weddings with is a Cannon shooter. She shoots the 5DM3. It hasn't mattered whether I'm shooting the D7100/D610/D810, I can shoot a 6 hour event on a single camera battery, while she's changing at least twice (usually 3 times just to be safe). Flash batteries I go through just as quick before I added the external battery pack. After shooting a couple of weddings with the grip on the camera just for the 2nd battery, I've stopped adding the grip weight because the 2nd battery hasn't been needed.

Just an update: I am changing the battery in the D7200 at 13% charge left, with a count of 2595 pics on that battery. I think that is pretty darn good. I hope the rest of you are doing that well
