What brand and what speed cards are you using in the d7200????

Be getting my D7200 soon and want to know what brand and speed cards are being used? I previously used SanDisk 32 and 64 gb cards and Lexar cards. Are some using SDHC and SDXC
cards in the D7200? I like to shoot sports and wildlife some fast action. What read and write speed do you recommend for fast action recording to the card? Feedack appreciated thanks

I am not shooting the D7200, but my D7100 and D750 work best when card speeds are a minimum of 90mbs. I have never had a SD card brand issue with any card so long as they are formatted every time in the camera.

I use a few Sandisk Extreme Pro 90MB/s 32 and 64GB both CF and SD. Only ever had a problem with one SD, it throws up a fault every now and then and stops working so i dont use it now. Probably cos i bought it second hand off of eBay

I suggest you only buy Lexar and Sandisc to be future proof as some of the Nikons will reject other brands ..for me the speed makes little difference when shooting but when downloading high is good ..95 mb/s

I use the SanDisk Extreme Pro 95MB/sec cards in my D7100, never had an issue with them.

Video does not need a fast card. Your camera manual says Class 6 cards are OK for video. You may prefer faster when downloading it to your computer.

Shooting a JPG image now and then does not need a fast card. Even shooting 2 or 3 fast shots will buffer it, and will be no problem.

Where you will want the fastest card is for automated shutter for several frames per second of large 24 or 36 megapixel images. For example, 12 MB images at 5 frames per second is 12x5 = 60 MB per second.


Or you may want a fast card (and certainly a USB 3.0 reader) for downloading a couple of hundred of them to your computer.
