I currently use the Cokin Pro Filter system. This allows me to buy one filter for all lenses. Then just buy inexpensive adapter rings to fit your lenses. Multiple rings are a lot easier to carry than multiple sized filters and a lot cheaper. Plus if you want to use a graduated filter, you can adjust the orientation and position of the horizon.

Yes... they are... I have a bunch of real Cokin bits and pieces, and they mixed in with that set, and I can't separate the Cokin brand from the knockoffs...

I know this thread is a few months old, but I haven't been logged into the forum lately.

I have 'refurnished' my filter set with Breakthrough Photography ND's and the CPL and am very happy. The only drawback is the CPL is very thin, and I had a difficult time getting it off my 80-400 one day due to the rubber on the end of the lens. I am more careful now, and I will probably buy a cheap set of filter removal tools.

Here is a pic I took recently with the 6 stop X2 ND and the X4 CPL stacked.

I came into possession of a Breakthrough X4 CPL without having to pay for it (fortunately, since it's 77mm) and I have to say, it IS a superior filter. Definitely my favorite. It cleans up so easily it's amazing. The "sticker shock", though, is a hard thing to get over. Still, if I spread it out...

Now I'm hearing strains of Johnny Cash singing "One Piece at a Time".

I put a few thick rubber bands in my bag. Just wrap one around the circumference of the filter, and the surface has enough grip to take it off. Haven't run into any problems doing it this way.

Yeah, they are expensive but they are very nice. I had another brand I got tired of having issues with so I said screw it and just replaced the whole set. I really like ND's so I bought the 6 awhile back, then the 3 and the CPL, and I just got in the 10 that has been on backorder. I bought them over the course of a year or so, so I know where you are coming from. It's alot of $ but I have spent alot of $ over the past couple of years replacing delaminated and stained filters, and you always discover those issues when you pull them out to use them. I had enough of it so I just went for the best, plus they have a good warranty.

Yes, I read about that. I got online when I couldn't get it off the 80-400 and ended up getting an iphone cord and wrapped it around it and got it off. The rubber band was next, but I didn't have any of those laying around. I will go buy some and do some tests, thanks for the advice.

I've found that a gentle grasp with the rubber band seems to work better than trying to force it. It's amazing how easy it is to remove using one.
