Not sure about 'keeping settings'...

I have a D7200. I also have a tremor in my hands and have difficulty using hand-held. I almost always use a tripod and the little remote device with a 2 second delay for shooting.

My question to you all is...How do I keep that setting of 'Remote Control Mode', "2s Delayed remote" or even "Quick-response remote"? Whenever the camera is turned off, the Setting reverts to OFF.

All answers gratefully received!

Have you tried saving them in U1 or U2 modes? I'm not sure where those settings reside so I'm not really sure if that's possible.

I had a feeling that might be the case. Perhaps I'll give it a try. A bit of reading coming up, eh? Well, disappointingly, it seems not. From the manual:

Doesn't the D7200 have a Self-Timer mode on the Mode Dial? Wouldn't that work? I don't have a camera here in front of me so I can't be sure...

And by "work" I mean instead of saving a setting to U1/U2.

Right, just use the regular self timer, WITHOUT the Remote and its menu which adds complication. You said it was on a tripod, so just push the shutter (with self timer) , and then get your hand off of it while any shake settles down for a couple of seconds.

Yes, you're quite correct, Paul. My problem with that is the interval between pressing and shooting is 10 seconds. I can't see any way of configuring that either. But hey, if it means I have to go into the menu each time, then I shall. Thanks boys.

I agree with Danino. Use a cable release which can be had for about $20 or so dollars. Some also have the benefit of setting timing for sequential shots, etc. I bought one (Polaroid brand) not long ago. I have only used it a couple of times, but it seems to work well.

On the self timer option, I have to confess a little. The other day, I was asked to take a group photo which I was supposed to be in. The cable release wasn't long enough. The ML-3 would not work because I couldn't find the menu option on the D7100. I had not used it before on that camera, but had on the D5300 which was easy to find. Then I decided I would use the timer option. I went through the menu options and found how to change for 10s to 3s etc, but not how to set it to activate. Later that night (much later after it was not needed any more), I remembered that I had the manual on my phone and found that it was right in front of me all of the time. The dial under the mode dial. Duh! My solution for my ignorance was to take two photos. One which included all but myself and one that included myself but not one other person who pushed the shutter for the second photo and then using poor mans PhotoShop (Gimp) putting the two photos together.

I love the D750 and the S9900 that both have WiFi built in. You can use your phone to see the shot and fire the camera. It is a great option for taking a photo with you in it.

The D5300 could have done that for me too if I would have thought of it and had tried it before hand. Ha!
