2 BEST general lenses for the D7200

Given your choice, what would be your 2 recommended lenses for a D7200.
Limiting the field to two lenses makes it tough to cover every possible scenario WELL... But if I could only have two bits of glass for my DX body I wouldn't want to be without a good, fast 35mm prime. My first choice would be the Sigma f/1.4 DG HSM "Art" series, but I could live with the Nikon 35mm f/1.8G if I had to. My second lens probably be a 70-200mm f/2.8 like the Tamron Di VC USD. I could do so much with just those two lenses that I would never be bored.

I mainly use the Tam 150-600mm on my D7200. Street and the occasional bird shot.

But if I didn't have the FX and had to restrict to two lenses, I'd use the Nikon 18-35mm and the Tamron 70-200mm. That range would give me plenty an option.

I will tell you what has served me well on my limited budget and given what I like to shoot.

I have Sigma 18-250 mm 3.5-5.6 Macro HSM and a Tamron 28-75 mm 2.8.

I use the Sigma as my walk around lens and try to take landscape and wild life... more trying on the wild life... :)

I use the Tamron indoor and Church functions where I want a shallower depth of field and I am usually dealing with low light. They both work and I have fun every day.

If I had to stick with only two, I would stick with these because of what I like to shoot. But thankfully this is just a hypothetical discussion and the Nikon 250-500 and Tokina 11-20 are still on the plan to purchase.

I have the D7100 with two lenses. I have the Nikon 18-55mm kit lens and the Nikon 70-300mm VRII. They are pretty good lenses for what they are and do a good job on what I shoot. Would I like to also have a 35mm prime, a Tamzooka 150-600mm, a macro... SURE, but I feel for the price I am covered pretty well with the two I have.

If I only had a D7200 (DX camera) and a choice of 2 lenses, it would be the Nikkor 18-140mm for walkaround , landscapes , butterflies and flowers, and the Nikkor 200-500mm for wildlife.
This is for me and what I shoot. You may be different in what you like to shoot.
You may like to shoot inside of buildings, then you need a fast lens like the 35mm 1.8, or even a ultra wide lens like the Tokina 11-16 or something of that nature.
It's hard to recommend anything without information on the type of shooting you do.

im biased towards highest IQ and flexibility. so most likely sigma ART 18-35 or nikons 17-55G and the newly announced sigma ART 50-100 or the tamron 150-600 so I think either both sigmas or the nikon (used) and the tamron. I dont do birding though. everyone has their own needs though.

If you're budget minded.
Used Nikon 35-70 f2.8 and 80-200 f2.8 should offer good versatility then save up for something wider.

You could sub the Nikon 35-70 w Tamron 28-75 f2.8 if you get a good copy.

I lens that stay on my camera the most is the sigma 18-35 A. The second most used lens would be my tokina 100 mm macro.

I've been impressed, wonderfully so thus far, with the Nikon DX 18-300mm that I've been test-driving for the past few weeks. The versatility is impressed, as is the quality of the images. To date, I'm a happy camper and a happier photographer.

Well I actually shoot a 7100 myself, but my two go-to lenses are a Tamron 17-50 2.8 and my sigma 70-200mm 2.8. I have both a 1.4x and 2x teleconverter so with just the 2 lenses I can cover most everything I need and if more reach is needed I can get out to 400mm at 5.6.

It makes for a very versatile combination.
