Missing flash options.

According to the manual the D7200 has 6 Flash Modes in P, A, S, M settings. On my camera I can only find 3 of these namely TTL, Red Eye, and Rear . The Slow Sync. options are not available. I have carried out the procedure raising the flash, holding down the flash button and cycling through the options on the info. screen with the Command Dial but only the 3 options appear.

Am I doing something wrong or are those options not available?

When I saw "Missing flask options" as a title in new posts I really had to wonder if someone had a drinking problem. In reading the post I see you meant Missing flashoptions so I will correct that for you. But I did have a good laugh about it

Check your manual again. Page 147 of the pdf version, I see a chart there. Not all modes are available for every shooting mode, so depending what mode you are in, you wont see certain flash options.

Nickt is right.. Check D7200 manual page 147 for A,S,P,M modes, and see page 145 for Auto mode. They are different.
And Slow is not available in S or M, because Slow is about allowing slow shutter speed (as metered), but S and M set shutter speed directly. Page 147 says that. S and M shutter speed is what we set it to be.

I have been studying the manual and many on line sources and all say that the 6 modes are available in the P, S, A and M modes. I'm in M mode and cannot get the Slow modes and I cannot figure out why:confused:

OK, I have resolved the issue. I found an article dating back to 2009 that referenced this problem with other earlier Nikon cameras. What the manual does not make clear is that the slow options are ONLY available in A and P modes.

I really struggle with the manual. I some health issues that inhibit focus and attention and the manual, I believe, is written in such a way as to torment people like me. I looked at what you were talking about and really struggled... but I have this book I bought at the recommendation of a forum member that I have found very helpful. It is by David Busch specifically on the D7200. I went to the topic you were asking about and it was very clear and the reverse of the manual listing settings were each option worked.

I have found this very helpful. It is about 8x10x2 full of detailed explanations and pictures. Thought I would pass it on.
