Nikon has informed me that the sensor in the 7200 can not be disclosed to the public that is buying this camera, this means that they can put a different sensor in every camera if they chose. Here is the quote from Nikon "Unfortunately this information is not available to the public." This might be acceptable in Japan, but the USA has consumer protection laws..............

This also means you do not know what you bought, and that if the sensor fails under warrantee they can put back in what they choose.....

Are they hiding a Canon sensor, or they know that Sony has an edge?

Nikon puts all sorts of different brands of sensors in their cameras. Sometimes they will change sensors partway through a camera's life cycle.

What 'consumer protection law' are they violating?

I would think that 99.9% of people are not really that bothered what sensor is used,

Go out, take some pictures, and enjoy what you have.

All consumers have the right to know what they are buying. March 15 1962, this is not new............... Consumer Bill of Rights Law & Legal Definition Consumer Rights — Consumers SA You can't choose a better sensor if you do not know what the sensor is to be compared too.

When you buy a car, do you bother to demand to know what brand of oil is in the engine? What about brake fluid? Radiator coolant? Transmission fluid? Wiper fluid?

What was the humidity of the air when the tires were inflated? What brand of window cleaner did they use to clean the windshield last? What brand of vacuum was used to clean the carpet?

I have merged these two threads since you double posted. Please do not double post

I am closing this thread also. You seem to just want to stir up controversy. If you do not like Nikon or Nikonites then you just need to buy a canon and move to a different forum.
