D7100 heavy crop

I guess by DSLR standards, a 2013 camera body is getting "long in the tooth" but here is the proof that it is not necessarily the case. I was at Huntington State Park today and as I was leaving, an Osprey with a small fish landed in a tree right in front of me. With the DX crop, my 600mm f/4 ED IF AIS became a 900mm f/4 and although the Osprey was a pretty good ways off I decided to go ahead and give it a shot. Just as the 600mm f/4 AIS never disappoints, neither does the D7100. Below is a comparison of the full frame, no crop image with a box delineating the crop, as well as the cropped image.

And here is a larger image of the final crop:

That's a great demonstration. Pretty amazing what these puppies can do. Thanks for posting this!

I resorted to using the D7100 instead of the D850 because of the 1.5x crop factor. Still, the Osprey was pretty small in the frame but all in all it still rendered a useable image.
