D7100 firmware update

Just tried to update my firmware from 1.02.
The update option appeared in the firmware set-up screen.
When I tried to update it kept saying battery power was too low?
I tried 3 different batteries ranging from 3/4 down and all said the same thing.

Any ideas?

All are 3/4 charged or less? Just throw one on the charger for awhile to get it fully charged. The update only takes a minute or two and your batteries are probably fine, but they want to be reasonably sure you don't have a dying or defective battery in there that might cut out during the update. If your camera were to go dead during an update, you might have to send it in to Nikon.

So how do you update?
I downloaded this and it remains as a zipped file.
When you execute the file, it quietly makes a a D7100Update folder in the same directory that you ran it from. No message, no nothing. You will find the .bin file in that folder. Copy it to a card and put it in the camera and go to the update menu.
If you previously updated the same model, you might already have that folder. It will sneak the .bin file in that folder along with the older one. Its awkward because there is no message and no indication that it extracted.

FYI,This update kills Auto Focus on Sigma lenses.Just had this experience with my 2 Sigma lenses.Good luck.

And that's one reason why I don't update my firmware. My older Sigma 24-70mm is great, but since it can't be connected to a dock, I'd have to send it in to Sigma to update the lens firmware. And even though my Nikon D750 is on the list for the shutter recall, I am holding off since I am not experiencing any problems right now.

wow! I haven't seen any issues introducted with the update on my 3 sigma lens' (although the 17-50 already had the scroll bug with the 7100).
I bought the nikon AF-P 70-300 FX now, so the update is useful for that.

I've read there's no fix for the Sigma 17-50mm scroll issue. Nikon and Sigma point the fingers at each other on that.
The sigman 50-100 Art F1.8 is a pretty good workout too! lol
