Viewfinder coating...

Hello everyone,

This is how my viewfinder looks like after almost 2.5 years:

Which is funny because I am very gentle with my gear. I also have glass screen protectors for both displays, not I see I scratched the viewfinder somehow. :)
I suppose this part is attached to the whole viewfinder so there is no easy replacement. It works as usual, there is no problem, only looks ugly.

It doesn't look scratched to me, it looks dirty. Have you tried cleaning it with a cotton swab and some rubbing alcohol?

Well, I did with some microfiber cloth. I believe that caused this, but I am not sure because I tried to clean it again and it does not take it off.

Thank you, I just used cotton swabs and this to clean it:

It now looks good.

I am not sure if it was grease or I removed all coating from it.
This spray contains anionic and nonionic tensides, and water.

You did not remove any coatings from the viewfinder lens, it just needed a proper cleaning.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

Any good lens, computer screen, or cell phone cleaner and a micro-fiber cloth will work fine,
