Red plastic on grip issue.

Hi there! I am new to the forum and I am glad to be here. I had a D3300 for a couple years and loved it. Recently I have moved up to a gently used D7100 for my needs. I am having one issue with it though. The red plastic on the grip is sticking out at one point and I find it rather annoying. Has anyone else had this or do you know of a quick fix?

Howdy and welcome to Nikonites!!!

It's hard to say just how much it is sticking out, but I don't remember mine being completely smooth there either. I believe it's meant to be a tactile mark so you know when your finger is near the command wheel or not. Hopefully other current D7100 owners can chime in here.

Just checked my dead one yep it sticks out so your index finder has a place to rest against and hit the command dial without looking :D

Awesome! Thank you for checking. I wasn't sure if it was a problem or not. it's just that one corner that is closest to the lens of the camera that seems to stick out and have a corner. It's not a huge deal, just one of those things that bothers me haha.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

You might try a tool like a chop stick to see if you can push it down.

I just took a look at mine and where yours looks like the end isn't flush with the grip, mine is a perfectly smooth trasnsition. I think yours is sticking out.IMG_0226.jpg

Thank you for the photos to show that it is supposed to be flush. I know it's not a big deal at all but I can be slightly OCD with this kind of stuff. I may try using some adhesive to see if I can make it flush again.
