Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.

Since you are posting on the D7100 Forum, we will assume you have a D7100. Is that correct? Does your camera focus when you half press the shutter release button? If so, I would suspect you don't have the af-l button configured to autofocus in your camera setting menu.

Did you buy this camera used? I'm thinking you may need to do a two-button reset to restore your camera to the factory defaults.

To do a 2-button reset hold down the green dotted ISO and EC buttons on the camera body and watch the top mounted LCD screen. This resets the functions found on the shooting menu. You can also navigate to the shooting menu and select Reset Shooting Menu > Yes.

To reset all Custom Settings, navigate to the Custom Settings menu and select Reset Custom Settings > Yes.

I erset the camra. It focus only in live view

If after a reset the camera is only autofocusing in live view mode, I would contact the seller. Knowing the clock is ticking if you do end up needing to return the purchase, best to get them involved sooner than later so that the complaint is logged.

If the body is autofocusing in live view mode, that tells me the camera and lens are correctly set for autofocusing. The reset should clear out and preset that may have forced back button focus, etc. You could continue to troubleshoot, but on a new camera this is not the behavior I would expect.
