When i look through the viewfinder there are a few bits or dirt or dust but nothing shows in photos, also when i remove a lens and look through the viewfinder what im looking at looks to be all scratches but when i put a lens on it appears clear apart from the few bits of dirt / dust, so anyone offer any advise how i could remove this dirt,

I'm not quite sure if I completely understand, but if you see a few bits of dirt through the viewfinder that don't appear in your photographs, you likely have some deposits on your mirror. When you remove the lens, you'll see your mirror. (If you don't see a mirror, go no further without extra guidance.) As a start, use a hand-held air puffer (not canned compressed air) and taking care to not touch the mirror, puff off the mirror surface. This will hopefully dislodge the deposits. While doing this, you may wish to hold the camera down, so that gravity carries out whatever is puffed away.

Then either the blower is not sufficient to do the job, assuming it's the mirror that's dirty (which I doubt, personally) or the crud is actually on the focusing screen or, possibly, the prism.

What where is the focusing screen
A focusing screen is a flat lens that sits above the mirror and below the prism. It's what allows the user to see the image framed in the viewfinder.

In the diagram below, the Mirror is labeled #2 and the Focusing Screen is labeled #5:

I have that problem with junk on the focus screen on my D5300. It is just there. At first it was annoying, but not worth service to get it removed and it doesn't effect the picture. So..... that is what it is. Ha!
