Trouble finding the Dynamic area setting

While holding down the AF lever button I have used the back dial to change to A,C and S.Then while hold down the same AF lever button and I rotate the front dial but seem to be only able to change the area mode to auto 3D. Why can't I dial up Dynamic? Paul

Not at all. Matrix is a metering mode; it determine how the camera exposes the shot. Dynamic Area is a focus mode.

Are you in af-s? Not all modes are available in af-s. Try af-a or af-c.

If you are in af-c, I can't think of anything else offhand. It might come to me though.

If you're in AF-C and you CAN set the AF-Area mode to either Auto or 3d, but you CAN'T set the AF-Area mode to S, D9, D21 & D51 then I'd have to say something is broken somewhere. That just ain't adding up.

Glad you got it sorted out. Had me looking at my D7100, We never stop learning.
