My D7100 Died today not sure why

First the top LCD screen lights wouldn't go off and the back green light kept flashing when the camera was off and the front command dial wouldn't change the aperture, so I let it rest for a couple hours with no battery in it. Put the battery back in and the top LCD showed nothing and the lights still wouldn't go out, and nothing works on the camera now:mad:

Luckily Nikon repair shop is not far from where I'm working I'll pop in next week and see what the cost might be.

Or just go ahead and upgrade to the D750

That sux Kevin. Hopefully it's something simple like a loose wire or something. If not, it might be a good excuse to upgrade to a D750+D810+D500 combination.:encouragement:

Right! Everyone has the loose change in their pocket to upgrade to an FX and also upgrade all their DX lenses.

Kevin is actually one of the few Nikonites I actually have met and shot with so that is the reason I am kidding with him. I rarely every suggest that anyone move to FX from DX unless they are really ready and need to.

Before sending it out, I'd leave the battery out at least overnight, use another card that the one that was in the camera.

Who knows...

Take the cards out. The light on could mean the camera is trying to write to the cards.

I have a slightly used D7100 I could sell you as a backup... ;)

In all seriousness, sorry to hear that yours is on the fritz. Hopefully it ends up being some quick/easy/cheap to resolve!

Clean the contacts on the body and lens where they connect. a Q=Tip and some denatured alcohol will work great. Be careful not to get anything in the body while you are doing this.
