So I am a full time artist (painting, airbrushing, comics) and wanted a better camera then my old coolpix and cell phone. Initially I went and bought a D3300 and after a few days didn't like it. So I went and got a D5300 and again after a few days didn't like it. So finally I said screw it and went with the D7100 and love it. I'm 6'4" and the others didn't feel right in the hands, they still felt like toys, but the 7100 is a serious camera. I already in the past few months probably watched a 1,000 youtube video's on DSLR's and shooting with one. Only after a couple of weeks of shooting a DSLR I am always in manual mode and getting great shots consistently. I know their is still years of learning ahead of me but wow am I stoked about this camera and what it can do for my art. On a side note though, I thought being an artist and an airbrusher was expensive, but I can see that it is nothing compared to photography if you get carried away. LOL

The D7100 is (dare I say it again) a PRIMAL BEAST, and like any other beast, it loves to be fed! New lenses, more SD cards, stronger tripods, editing software...

...the appetite is voracious! It's a good thing I get so much joy out of it. ;)

The D3300 is a bit small indeed, especially when you got decent hands. I'm used to it now but holding it stills feels awkward. Then again, less weight has its charms too.

Ya at least I'm good with my editing software as I use Lightroom and Photoshop CC on my mid-2014 13" rMBP with 8gb/256 set up. LOL, but memory cards ya I could see that, I have two class 10 32gb cards in her now and I hope they will hold up for awhile.

I had a D5100 and the size was the only thing I preferred. I'm not 6'4 either. When climbing up the side of a hill, or trampling through the woods the smaller size is an advantage but I'm used to the larger D7100 now. I also don't worry about breaking the swivel screen any longer.
