Nikon D7100 Err Message

After upgrading my D7100 firmware, I've encountered quite a number of times getting this 'ERR' on my screen. My mirror just suddenly went half down during a photo shoot. This is very frustrating because this really disturbs my workflow and mood during events and stuff. (P.S. I am not using Mirror up mode ) Can this problem be solved by Nikon? Your feedback/reply is really appreciated!

Hi everybody, I'm new to the forum, thanks in advance for help and hope we'll have better chances to interact :)

I have the same problem, "Err" message blinking, tried almost everything, seems pretty bad :(

I can see the photos in the card, the battery seems fine, the mirror is not stuck and seems to be shooting fine, maybe with a slightly different sound??
No photos are recorded though and I cannot change settings with the commands on the camera, but only through the menu...

This is the last photo the camera shot before refusing to respond anymore:

Can anyone make a better diagnosis?? thanks for your time!

Thank you so much birdseye, didn't even think about the shutter! I suppose shutter is better than sensor? do you think I might have any chance of getting it checked/fixed anywhere in on this planet? thanks!

Do you know what the shutter count is on the camera? Take your last photo shot and upload it to this site. Camera Shutter Count

To get it repaired you will need to send it off to Nikon

The shutter going out is much better than the sensor going out, yes. Having the shutter box replaced will set you back somewhere in the neighborhood $350 if you send it to Nikon for repair, but any camera shop that does repair work can handle this for you.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

Since this thread is 3 years old, you might want to consider starting a new one. But it does sound like your camera needs to make a visit to the camera doctor.
