    Another question...Do you have to format Brand New memory cards?

    It will likely work OK if you don't, but why not do it right?

    D7100 manual

    Page 30: Format memory cards before first use (see page 32).


    The card may ship with a file recovery software utility on it, which will be lost at format, so you may want to copy it to the computer first, in case of corruption problems later.

    I use sandisk extreme pro 32gb 95mb/s and sandisk extreme 16gb 80mb/s and 45mb/s without any problems what so ever

    I use the Lexar 400X 32GBx2 cards. It is a bit of overkill on write speed for this camera. If you shoot RAW use 14 bit over 12 bit. The D7100 tops out at 6 frames per second in burst mode, so most class 10 cards should work fine. Cards have come down in price, I would recommend getting at least a 64GB card. I shot a little league game this past weekend in 14 bit RAW, mostly burst mode. In 3 plus hours, I shot over 1480 pics which filled my first card and about 35% of my second card.
