D7100 playback is showing both memory cards

Strange. I just formatted both of my cards in my D7100.

My 'Role played by cards in Slot 2' has always been set to 'Backup'.

Now, when I take a few shots, the playback menu cycles through one card then through the second card.
Deleting images does the same thing. First time I've had this happen.

Is there a setting I am missing? Blew through the menus, manual and Google.

Thanks :)

I don't think there is a setting. Maybe double check you are in backup role. Is so, try a format of both cards. Maybe it does not recognize they are dups for some reason. In overflow, it goes from card 1 to 2 in playback, so maybe the is a new folder or something on your cards and it thinks they are different pics. Try a format.
I just tried this on mine and it does not show the backups when in backup role. I rarely see this in real life, I use card 2 for overflow. I never get to that point. For me, card 2 is more for "I left card 1 in the computer and went out for a walk without checking"

edit. I just saw you already formated. I guess I got no idea then, sorry.

Yeah, I've bounced between backup and overflow trying to figure this out. I'll re-format again and check it out. I have never experienced this before and am finding nothing on this online :(

OK. I cleared my cards again.

If I use backup mode (RAW + RAW) I find the playback button cycles through both cards.

If I use Overflow mode, I find the playback works as expected, only cycles through only card 1.

I did find info on Storage Folders online, Currently I am using 'Select folder from list' > 100D7100.

Playback Menu > Playback folder > D7100

mabye I was really running in overflow mode all along before today? No I have doubts.

Eitherway, playback is behaving as I expect it to now as I am in overflow mode.

If anyone else has any insight I'd appreciate it. I would really like to run on backup mode and only have playback cycle through one card.
