Headphone Volume Adjustment??

Hello. I'm new to this forum, but not new to digital photography and can usually navigate through the instruction manual pretty well. But this one has me stumped! I'm simply trying to adjust my headphone volume to monitor audio during video recording. I am shooting in Manual mode and have adjusted my external mic input to a reasonable level; that part is easy. But I cannot see any way to adjust the headphone level, which I cannot hear. Next to the mic level settings is another scale from 1-20, which I assume is the headphone setting. I know audio is being recorded, as I've pulled the files and they sound (and look) great. I simply do not see any reference in the menu to headphones. The only thing I do see via the Info button is a headphone icon, which has the number 15 next to it. I would be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

Just to be clear on my settings, I'm shooting in M mode with a 60mm f/2.8 macro, 1920x1080; 30P, manual mic settings @ 7

Thanks very much, Craig

I never do video, but I think the headphone volume is remembered from when you playback a video. So make a short video, play it and use the +/- zoom buttons to raise the volume and I think it stays there. There might be a better way, but I never use video. I'm just playing with it now, my daughter needs to record a speech for school this week.

Nickt: Thanks for your reply; I tried your suggestion and was able to boost the playback volume of my video clip. However, the headphone audio level while monitoring the audio input is still the same--and I cannot hear anything in the headphones.

Did you have the headphones plugged in during the playback? I just tried it and it seems to need the headphones plugged in during playback to remember the setting. What I think its doing is remembering one setting for the internal speaker and another for when headphones are plugged in.

I don't know then. I just tried it again, I played a video, set volume up to 30. Then I went to record and I can see the headphone volume is still set at 30. (headphone symbol on left side of screen). Blasted my ears out and then dropped the mike down to 7 and volume was more reasonable.

Niclt: Ok, now it works. Using the Zoom =/- buttons did the trick. I'm not sure what I tried the other time, but I can say that it's a very poorly documented procedure in the manual. Thanks much for your help!

So what are the "Zoom =/-" buttons? I know what the zoom buttons are, but what on earth are you referring to with =/-?
