I dont know how much sharper you would like video to be. The D7100 and D800E are about as tack sharp you can get without making your eyes bleed. While the camera you talk about may be sharper, doesnt mean its better quality, or produces better results.
Ummm . . ... yes it does. I've authored several Blu-ray discs with video from both and non photo/video people have noticed the difference. Raw video too! The D7100 is good for a DSLR, but when compared to a dedicated video camera it's not great. Especially when that video camera is capable of 1080p at 60 fps.

Still doesnt mean much. I have been producing video for over a decade. If its an ENG camera the sensors in it are probably 1/3, so you will get quick focus and sharp images. You wont get the best lenses or the best depth of field either.
The Canon 1DC is a DSLR and it blows away any dedicated video camera, the C300 same thing and its a DSLR. Plus your comparing a dedicated video camera to a mid-grade "prosumer" dslr LOL.
Ummmm . . ... it means everything. When non knowledgable people pick up the difference and comment about it the difference is large. Not only that, but I've read as well as viewed reviews other than yours that also said the video was soft. Both my Nikon and my Panasonic are prosumer units.

Not necessarily. You can have your opinion. But panasonic is the weakest link in the camera world. The Nikon coolpix is a better small camera than the Pani is. Go watch reviews online. The ENG pani's lose when compared to sony's. Then we move on to the DSLR world, and canon has them taken down as well. Then we have the fact that RED, and Arri, and black magic all produce better results.
The fact is that you can enjoy your pani, love it and use it. I would never spend a dime on a pananasonic camera. not now, not ever. They are not very good.
Also, if you think just because your video is sharper, that means its better you still have a lot to learn about video. Like I said. I have been in this game longer than most. Unless of course you have more than 12+ years as a pro.
Now you're just way, WAY off base! In the video world Panasonic continually wins awards for the best video cameras. At the prosumer level Panasonic was the first to offer 1080p 60fps and at one time was the ONLY mfg that offered it. Who cares if you'll never buy one? And AGAIN I'll say when people that don't know jack about specs notice a difference in quality for the better that says it all. Not so called pro reviews, not specs and not so called experience! Just what the naked eye sees across different people. Ever heard of a focus group? Your so called 12 years doesn't mean jack either! It seems you bestowed your title on your self. Do you have a degree in Photography/Videography? If so where did you get it? Another thing about your so called 12 years. Recently there was a storm chaser that had 14 years experience chasing storms. Do you know what that 14 years experience did for him? HE'S DEAD NOW!

None of it means jack! I have a degree. Where I got it doesnt matter. I have own pani cameras, in fact, I had 6 of them. I have had their consumer 3CCD camers from their GSV lineup, I have owned a pani hpx300, and I have owned their HMC 70, HMC 150's and many more.
Your storm chaser analogy is disrespectful and ignorant. I give a shit less what you shoot on, and I give a shit less what you like. Its all relative. At the end of the day, your not going to convince me that a pani camera is better than a ARRI or RED. Because at the end of the day its not. Thats a fact.
Thats why all of the movie industry shoots on ARRI, RED, SONY, and Canon. I go to WPPI every year, I have worked for many large corporations. I have been on the set of many live news floors, conferences, interviews.
Not one time have I ever seen any of these people shooting on a pani. In fact for most news rooms they are on sony F900R. When I am on set for a movie its almost always RED or ARRI.
Like I said, I dont have anything to prove. If you think Panasonic owns the video world you need to open your eyes. Stop taking the thread off course now please.
