    My new D7100

    My new D7100
Well I am the proud owner of a D7100 as of today. Sold my D3100 and 18-55, 55-200 this morning.

I have had a bit of a play with it using an AFS 24-85 (non vr ), I bought this lens a while back in anticipation for a move to a D600, which wont happen now.
I was never happy with this lens on my D3100, the 18-55 produced better images. This lens seems to produce a lot of noise, even at low ISO settings.
I am not too impressed with it on the D7100 either. It will get sold along with a 70-300D to help finance a 16-85.

Here are a couple of pics which I took on a walk around my backyard, the camera is still pretty much on the default settings.
    1st one is ISO-100, f4.5, 1/40th, @58mm.

    This one is ISO-800, f4.2, 1/200th, @45mm.

I put on the 70-300VR and went for another walk.

    A couple of samples,

    ISO-800, f6.3, 1/40th, @300mm.

Think I will spend the rest of the afternoon on the lounge chair with the camera and the manual on my lap and get used to the settings and controls. Its a lot different to my old D3100 to use, and I am sure I can get a lot better photos out of this thing yet.

Very nice. I went from the D5100 to the D7100 and no regrets. This is a great camera.

    My new D7100
I went for a walk this afternoon with my D7100 and 55 f2.8 micro.
I have now set the camera to RAW, and it seems the only software I have that can convert the raw files to jpeg, is ViewNX2. I havent used this before so I am not familiar with it.
Here is one I fumbled along with, and managed to get it on here.

Adobe Lightroom D7100 support added: Open D7100 RAW (.NEF) files using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Version 4.4. Lightroom versions before 4.4 will NOT read the D7100 RAW .NEF file. Lightroom 3 can not be updated to read the files. You must have the current Lightroom 4.x branch or use the Adobe DNG converter described above.

    Re: My new D7100

Thanks for that tip Michael, but I dont have that software.
I have Apple Aperture. I see there are updates for it that I dont have yet, but I dont think they are for the D7100.
I noticed there was a mention of being able to handle P7700 raw files, I take it that is a new P&S camera.

I guess its a matter of time until an update is ready for the D7100 raw files.
I just have to work out a plan for the meantime.
I wasn't overly impressed with ViewNX2 when I was using it this afternoon, but I am sure it would work better if I was more familiar with it.
