Has anyone upgraded from a d90 to a d7000 and regretted it?

Hi there. I am considering upgrading but have read so many issues about the 7000 would like to hear from others that have gone from the d90. Have you been happy with the move and are you achieving better photos?

Cant say I upgraded from a D90 but I used to love my D7000 before moving to FX. I converted from Canon and have never looked back.

I moved from the D90 to the D7000 and use the D90 as my second camera. I have not had any problems with my D7000 in the year and a half that I have owned it. I am very impressed with both cameras and have no regrets with the D7000 and highly recommend it. Depending on what you plan on doing in the future and how many DX lenses that you own you might consider the D600. Just remember that it is a full frame and that the lenses will cost more. If you ever plan on moving to full frame in the future and you budget will allow it take a look at the D600. If it is out of your budget or you have no desire to go full frame then I have to say that I am well pleased with my D7000.

Hi

I did so and did not regret it a single day.

Kept the D90 for about three weeks after upgrade and then sold it after being sure I am happy with my D7K

D90 is a lovely camera, wont say a bad word about it. The D7000 does everything a D90 does, just better, faster, stronger, longer, ect ect. I think you get my drift.
In concluding,

D90 Goodbye old friend.

D7000 How YOU doin  xxx

I don't regret it one bit, I love the D7000, but I have questioned myself why.

To me the D90 is at this stage all the camera I need. To have 2 D90's would probably suit me better as I know the camera inside out now - that is if you need 2 bodies.

I am biased though because I am a huge fan of the D90.

Although i did that move - D90 to D7000 - today I would consider it better due to the fact there is a good entry FF body.

I enjoy a lot my D7000 and I value a lot the stronger body, the high ISO, the 2 cards and the memory for non-CPU, but with the lower prices of the D700, for example, you can upgrade to FF and gain a lot from that.

The REAL expense is when you start buying the glass to go with that full frame camera. Out of my six lenses that I have only two Nikon lenses that will work on full frame but my favorite and most used lens, the Sigma 17-50 F2.8 would be costly to replace. The closest lens is the Nikon 24-70 F2.8 at $1895 more in addition to getting the FF body. I would like to get the D600 but when you add the cost of the lenses on top of that I just cannot justify that much money. Tamron and Sigma have similar lenses that are less but it still adds up to a bunch of money.

True, although i did start to build my lens set considering a future FF move.
As of today, I only have one DX lens - a 10-20 Sigma - although I decided for the 24-70 Sigma instead of the Nikon as it costed less than half of the money. My tele, my macro and my standard prime are FF lens so it is just a matter of considering when should I spend my money :)

But honestly I don't shoot that much to justify a FF investment, not yet.

I'd not taken too much notice of the latest models available for a good handful of months, from late 2011 through to mid/late 2012, just recently. The "just recently" I mentioned, was when I began hearing that a certain D600 which was about to be released. That immediately pricked up my ears up and I began reading reviews, reviews and even more reviews on the internet and it all became clear.. I had to have one,, a decision I made withing a week of hearing of its impending release and just 2 days before it was due to actually be released - mid Sept. Of course, I didn't expect it to be here for a good month or so, but another camera also caught my eye - the D7000, which also seemed to be a hot little performer. I couldn't really afford to splash out on a D800, although it too was a thought in mind but at the time I thought if I couldn't get a D600 within a very small amount of time, I might just have to think about the D7000. I could do a lot worse and afterall, I hadn't updated from the D300 I'd now had for 4 years, so it's about time make a move...

Anyway, a couple of days later on my way home I wanted to stop off at the camera shop but commuter traffic was just too heavy at that time of the day so I stayed in my place in the slow moving traffic and decided if I got home intime I'd phone the shop, after thinking about the D600 all day, and see just when they were due for this country. I made it home just a few minutes before the shops closing time and dialed their mumber... The last thing expected to hear was "Actually we got a couple in just a couple of hours ago". I said "Put one aside, I'll take it"... Now it's all history...

Just because I bought a D600, doesn't mean to say I have stopped keeping an eye on other models, including my next favourite model by default, the D7000. I still look at the D7000 as a camera to own and obviously well worth its weight...
