Heya,

The connection of the tripod broke of and is on the camera now - and I don´t know in which direction to unwind it.

Mainly asking because a friend of mine told me he ruined a camera of his by trying to unwind it in the wrong direction.

Left or right?

Thinking of my tripod, i would turn it clockwise. Not sure how you can ruin a camera by going in the wrong direction. It either loosens up or it doesn't.

god its a standard right hand thread so you wind it out anti clockwise looking from the bottom as in the photo ....how anyone can suggest otherwise makes me feel there are some total prrrattts about .

If you wind it the wrong way you can rip the bush out the bottom of the camea...its only metal set in the plastic

Apparently it can destroy the "winding/screw thread"

I always thought about rotating it to the left - so counter-clockwise.

Yes, sorry for saying clockwise. I was thinking of it from the perspective of standing behind the camera and turning the knob from underneath - i don't use my tripod much. Further, i am only human and do make mistakes. Some people seem to think it fit to label people with names if they make little mistakes. Don't worry pistnbroke, the sun will rise tomorow.

Well if you aint sure dont give advice that can wreck someones camera ..Yes I know this is is thread. joke ...ha ha ...

I don't think he can wreck the camera. You would have to have the strength of the incredible hulk to break the camera. If he were to turn it the wrong way, it would obviously just get tighter; therefore, i am sure he has the intelligence to turn it the other way. As i have learnt, don't ever force anything, it will only bring you trouble. Further, left loosey, righty tighty does not apply to everything. Let's hope his camera does not get "screwed" up ;)

well he can wreck it if he puts a shifter on it of some sort and is convinced it should go to the right.

I personally find the fittings come loose so I always put some bathrooom silicone ..the black stuff that smells of vinegar under any foot I fit ..even if the screw comes out it still holds and it is removable and leaves a clean surface when you want to sell....

mmmm, perhaps. A shifter (spanner or adjustable wrench as i found out) would be a bit much to tackle this. I would go with a small pair of pliers, which would give you a little more "feel". Anyhow, all is good and if he for some reason rips the bottom of his camera off, i am going into hiding:)
