Buying D7000 second hand

Does anyone have recent experience buying D7000 on ebay?

Prices are about £600 (body only), versus a new D7000 body for £725 on amazon.

Is it worth paying extra to get it new, so later on I can sell it at a higher price? Any ideas how much I might get for it in 6-12 months time? That's when I might need to go for the D700

Cheers

You don't get any warranty of ebay products...
If you have a problem it doesn't have to be a major issue to cost more the 125 pounds

That's too small a saving. If you buy from Jessops as I did last year they let me exchange it for a D300s as it didn't suit me. Im sure you would e happy with it but at least you can have confidence. For me used has to be 50-60% of new or it's not worth the saving.

For saving a small amount such as £125, I'd go for a new one, as if it's a UK product, you can register it at Nikon UK and get a 2 year warranty .... and that's worth more that what you will save buying used ...

With all the reported focus issues on the D7000, there is no way I would buy one used. Buy new and have the warranty.

if you are buying used in the uk you could try MPB photographic. they always thoroughly check everything and give a 6 month guarantee plus a return policy. but, i would suggest buying new if you can, as the 2 year nikon warantee is worth having.

Thanks for the suggestions.

For lenses, is 2nd hand OK?

I'm going to buy the D7k new, and I want a wide angle lens for it, hopefully won't have to pay too much.

i would recommend the same dealer again, i have bought 2 lenses from them and they were as described 100%. but you will save in a private sale, though if you use e bay you can still end up paying the same price as from a dealer with no guarantee.

Thanks evan. MPB look great. Have bookmarked that.

Their 2nd hand D7Ks are only £25 cheaper than a new one off Amazon so I'll still with the new option.

good, you know it makes sense. just be careful that the amazon d7000 is bona fide uk stock. if it is a grey import the warranty may be restricted, or, more than likely useless. i was getting a new tokina 11-16 from from an online retailer with uk office, phone number and warehouse. but it turned out to be imported from hong kong! cancelled straight away. dont forget if it looks to good to be true ............ caveat emptor. the d7000 is a great tool in the right hands, hope you get yours and enjoy it.
