D7000 users with focus issues

I just had a thought - If you are one of the people with focus issues, check "Custom Menu" section a1)AF-S and a2)AF-C priority selection and see they're set at "release" or "focus". If it's set at release then the shutter will activate before the subject is in focus. This could explain some of the soft focus issues since the camera is set at release by default.

Mine is set to "focus priority".
I still had to fine tune my 1.8 35mm lens, but once done, focus was spot on:)

Mine is set to Focus Priority as well, and is something i tried before sending to nikon. I know its hard for people who have perfect d7000s to believe, but some of these cameras really do have a problem...LOL. But this may be something that some people dont realize could be an issue.

Like Obir... once my camera came back from nikon my lenses were spot on with the exception of my 35mm 1.8 which needed quite a fine tune..

So maybe dumb question, but what does everyone mean when they say they "tuned" their lens? Maybe i should read the manual....

Every 3 months or 3000 shots you need to change the filter and lubricate your lens. This will keep your lens in peak operating condition.

It should be in the maintenance section of your manual.

Just as a general aside, I hope that you feel that tugging sensation in your right leg.

Thats me pulling.

Hi there! No such thing as a dumb question! (okay, well there is but yours wasn't one of them! lol! :))

Please refer to page 246 of the D7000 manual for some information on this useful function. Basically if the focus of your camera seems a bit "off" (i.e. front or back focusing) then the "tuning" function inside the camera allows you to set an adjustment to correct this issue.
