Nikon D7200 problem with slow startup & wake up from sleep (&comparison with D90)

I have been using Nikon D7200 for a while and still can't get used to the slowness when starting up & waking up from sleep. I searched the internet and not sure whether it is normal or my camera is faulty and should be taken to service.
Could you please check this video I created: https://youtu.be/mhdCMe2x8OE I compare the startup and wake up from sleep with my old Nikon D90 which seems to be 3 times faster than the newer and more expensive Nikon D7200.
Could you please compare your D7200 and share the experience with me?
The slowness of my camera seems to be related to the C2 settings where one can set the lapse of time camera measures exposure values and stay awaken. As long as the camera is in the "awaken" mode everything works fine and when I press Menu button, i button, Playback button or Info button camera reacts immediately. However once the camera goes to sleep mode and I than press any of the buttons I mentioned it takes so much time (average 3 seconds of waiting and hourglass) to wake it up. Strange thing is that the camera access memory card which seems to slow it down.
This slow wake up (and the same for turn camera on) is bit better when only one memory card is inserted and much better when no memory card is inserted. However with half full memory card(s) the camera becomes even slower than what you can see on the video.
I tested it with several cards. The fastest 32 GB Sandisk SDs as well as the fastest 64 GB Kingston SDs. I also tried some older, slower but smaller (4 GB and 16 GB) cards and cannot see any difference.
The only solution for this problem seems to be increasing the value of C2 to longer time which drains battery faster than when set to shorter time. I set 4 seconds only with my previous Nikon D90 and was happy with the performance. With D7200 I have C2 set to 30 seconds which is quite OK for normal use but since I am used to turn my camera off and on quite often I still need to wait for the slow reaction when turned on.
In my eyes, this issue is even more annoying since Nikon decided to remove the white balance indicators as well as image quality indicators from the top display and therefore everytime I want to change white balance or quality when the camera is in sleep mode or immediately after turn on I must wait for 3+ seconds.
I am really not sure whether this is performance one would expect from such expensive semi-profi camera and therefore I am asking you for help. Is this behaviour normal (compare with your own Nikon D7200) or should I take if to service?

Another thing that surprised me after purchase was low battery life. With the D90 I was able to get up to 1800 frames on one battery (average bit over 1000) but with D7200 I have not even reached 1000 frames on one battery and I usually change new battery after some 600-800 frames with similar setup and usage as on D90 (shooting RAW+JPG, no flash, average 10 picture per battery with live view and 10 pictures per battery with longer exposure - 5s+ - times, using playback or menus rarely).

Thank you for watching my video, comparing with your D7200 experience and sharing it with me.

Unhappy Nikon D7200 user.

It needs a memory card in it to be of any value What memory card are you using in it?

Of course it needs a memory card....I use Sandisk SDXC 95MB/s 32 GB as well as 95MB/s 64GB Kingston. However I tried several other brands/sizes with same slow camera behavior...:-/

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.

I will have to do some testing to better understand your issue.

I just played with my D7200. From off to on takes less than a second and menus pop up instantly. Either I don't understand your post or your camera does have some kind of issue.

What is your C2 value? No matter what I set for C2 the camera off/on is still bloody slow and takes at least 3 seconds for the menus to pop up when I turn it on and press menu (or info or i or playback) button right away. The same when camera goes to sleep mode. Is the camera fast when when you press menu/info button when it sleeps as well?

By C2, I assume you mean "Standby Timer" in the settings menu. Mine is set at 6 seconds.

Also, for what it is worth, if I turn on my camera, then press the menu button, the menu comes up faster then if I hold the menu button and turn on the camera.

Mine takes two or three seconds to start. Frankly I had not noticed it enough to be concerned. I do not think it is a problem with the camera. I have had mine 1 year and I do not remember it ever being different. My guess it has something to do with all the systems, including the two Extreme Pro 95 mb/s 32 GB SanDisk cards to work thru.

Now that I think about it, I do remember it took longer to start than my D3200. But it never was enough to concern me.

I flip the switch on and by the time the green light for the cards go out it is ready to go.

What you are calling three seconds on the video is a second or less. I timed it. Unless I'm missing your point. :)

Anyway, my D7200 screens appear almost instantly. On my D500 it can take a whole second at times. Not exactly something to worry about, IMO.

Again, maybe I don't fully understand your issue.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.

If your issue is exactly the same as the OP, then the general feeling is it is not a problem.

The D90 was performing a lot less housekeeping activities and checking data integrity of a lot smaller cards so I would be surprised of the D7200 was as fast.
Are you using a battery grip? I am a moderator for a large Nikon community including on the D7x00 forums and there have been a few reports of delayed response from the D7200 when the battery grip is attached and not when it is off the camera.

There are various methods with which you can fix the issue of slow wake up such as upgrading the existing firmware to new latest and update firmware version. The second option to fix this issue is restore the factory default settings.
