Sell a D7000 to Purchase a Refurbished D7100

I have read about all of the advantages the D7100 has over my current D7000 in the threads here and I wanted to get your advice/input before I make my final decision and list my camera for sale.

I am looking for better auto focus and ISO performance and from what I have read, the D7100 should deliver on both of these fronts. I have noticed a lot of noise in my images at anything shot above ISO 800 (even that has noise and grain).

I would be selling my D7000, some kit lenses (18-55, 55-200) and a bag that I never use to make this upgrade happen. These were all purchased brand new, so does it make sense to sell a D7000 that I have owned since it was new and move into a the refurbished D7100?

Adorama was having a sale on Refurbished D7100's, so I was able to get it for what I believe was an amazing price. I ordered it before the special went away with the idea of seeing what condition it was in, taking a few test images and then leaving it in the box in case I can't move my current gear.

I wanted to get your input and see what your thoughts were in this scenario.

Thank you for your time in advance!

Refurb D7100 bodies are going for about $540 these days, quite a value IMO.
It's more about YOUR needs and if you think a D7100 will do more for you than than your D7000 can.

Good Luck!

Just keep in mind, the D7100 does not have an AA filter over the sensor. It will be much more demanding on your glass than the D7000 it is replacing.

I moved from the D7000 to the D7100 and do not regret it at all. mauckcg is correct in that the D7100 is more demanding of lenses than the D7000 is. I had the 55-200 and got rid of it. The 18-140 is a great lens with the D7100 as is the 70-300.

I have the 18-140 which I was planning on keeping and then my next two lenses are going to be the Nikon 70-300 and Tokina 11-16 of 11-20.

I got a D7100 after my D7000 died. It's great for daytime photography but is not that good for nighttime photography as it doesn't have exposure preview in LiveView like the D7000 so it is impossible to zoom in on the moon as it shows as a overexposed white blob irrespective of your camera settings.

I never had a D7000, but I did buy a Refurbished D7100 from Adarama in December for $498. Love Love Love it! First thing I did was snap a JPG loaded it on Flickr and BOOM it had 9 shutter activations! My recommendation is to go for it!

I had a D7100 for a very short time, before letting it's original owner buy it back and he bought it refurbished the first time around. Anyway it is a pretty great DX camera, though I wasn't thrilled with the feel of it's grip size and shape. By that time I had my D700 and my D800E which are bigger cameras, and I was use to their grips.lol:)

But I would recommend the D7100 to anybody looking for a good DX with higher MPs than some older nikon models, or need better iso than older models!:)

I got the D7100 delivered yesterday from Adorama and it had a total shutter count of seven (7)!!! The camera is basically brand new.

I would have loved to move up to FX (610), or the 7200, or keep the 7000 as a backup, but I have to sell it along with some older kit lenses and accessories to make this work. I understand that it is an incremental upgrade, but I am hoping that the auto focus and ISO improvements will be worth it!
