Tamron 24-70 2.8 for a D7000?

Has anyone used a Tamron 24-70 2.8 on a D7000? I realize it would give up some on wide end but wondering if the 2.8 & image quality might make it a good general lens. Thanks.

I haven't on the D7000, but the lens works well with the D7100!

Thanks for the reply. Do you use the 24-70 as a general lens or for specific situations? My thought is that if I go with something like the 24-70 (after saving up for it) then I would eventually trade/sell my 18-105 for a wide angle lens. If I don't go with something like the 24-70, then I would look go back to my initial (and less expensive) thought of a sigma/tamron 17-50 and keep the 18-105.

It's a general lens for me, but depends on what I'm planning. I'll swap between the 24-70 Tamron and the 24-120 Nikon based on how much control I'll have on the subjects. I still tend to grab the 24-120 as my walk around lens so that I don't have to swap lenses to get focal lengths beyond 70mm, but if I know I'm shooting primarily portraits then the 24-70 is my first choice. In your case, I would suggest checking your photo library to see what focal length(s) you use most often to see if the range from 70-105 is that important to your overall shooting.

Great lens, as stated above, really depends on your needs and if that focal range is a good fit.
I use the 17-50 and 70-200 f2.8 Tamron zooms on my crop/D7100.

Looked through a number of my photos recently that I had taken with the 18-105. Although I had photos over the entire focal range, I noted the following uses in order of importance: Most common range of 50's to 70's were best keepers of people/places/events; Shots in 80's to 105 range were most likely individuals; Shots in 18-30's range tended to be general shots of people in rooms or outside (good shots but not as satisfying as the first two groupings). At some point this winter, I plan to make a trip to my favorite camera store and talk things over before making a final decision.

I shoot with the Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 on both my D7100 and my D750. How useful you'll find the focal range I can't say, but objectively speaking it's a very, very good lens; bordering on excellent. After my Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 this is the lens I reach for most often.
