"r09" code

The r is your buffer, sounds normal. Perhaps another problem is holding you up, like camera cannot achieve focus.

Then number following the 'r' is how many shots you can still take with the remaining buffer capacity. "r09" means you can take 9 more frames before it fills.

Something else is holding the shutter button up.

This is usually the case for me. I get it when I forget to hit the back button to focus the camera. I don't know how I could forget something like focusing the camera, but there it is.

I've been having an issue with mine as well, I use back button focus and it beeps letting me know it is in focus and then I go to hit the shutter release and nothing happens. I'm in manual mode as well.

To use the bbf technique to its full potential, you should be in af-c mode and menu a1 set to 'release' priority. If you don't have release priority set, the camera may focus with the back button, but if you recompose either on purpose or just slight movement, the camera may not fire since the focus point no longer sees focus. Release priority will allow you to recompose when you release the back button. This applies to the d7000, however the d7100 and d7200 will use release priority with the back button regardless of menu a1 setting.

Yeah, no beep in af-c, it is continuous focus. So you lose the beep, but you gain the advantage of having instant access to continuous focus or let go of the button for a pseudo af-s mode. Great for recomposing at your leisure or pre-focusing for anticipated action.

After posting my comment above, I'm starting to have more issues with this. In my case the problem is the camera can't see well enough to autofocus/confirm focus. The AF assist light is one option for that problem but not always practical. Try changing the focus point slightly.

All these answers are wrong...this is a dumbass error....its indicating that you cannot release the shutter because your camera is in the wrong mode....you were probably previously taking pictures in
ir mode.... Which is the mistake O commonly make because I am a webcam model and i routinely take selfies with my
ir remote... Just return the shutter dial to continuous or single mode or whatever you use and you should be good...
Because we are all dumbasses and we do these things there is no need to thank me.
