Missing .nef files from photo shoot

Weird thing happened today at a 1st Communion. Took images of kids and/or/with family members and shot between 3-5 of each group/individual. The first client is there on the card...and then the third and rest of the clients are there! What happened to the 4 images of client 2? I checked the LCD after taking their images and they showed up. Client 1 numbers 001 to 004. Client 3 numbers are 005 to 008. Those should be Client 2's numbers! The time stamp has a 4 minute difference from Client 1 to Client 3 which about right since I was taking about 2 minutes per client. Any ideas?

Possible files are corrupted.

However, on a side note, I am interested in seeing your work since I have a similar photo shoot this Saturday. Thank you.

You can try using a file recovery on the storage disk. If the photo's that you can see have not physically been placed on the storage where the missing photo's were, they should still be readable from the storage using this software.
