Please help...Worth upgrading D80 w/16-85 lens to D7000 w/18-140 new lens??

I have a D80 with 16-85 lens. Originally had the 18-135 lens, but had focusing issues so upgraded about 6 months ago to 16-85. On Black Friday I saw the D7000 w/ the new 18-140 lens for $800 (orig $1,600) at best buy. I had been wanting a little longer zoom, so I thought I'd try it and if I decided the upgrade wasn't worth the $800, I could return. Also, I would consider keeping both lens or sell the 16-85 if I could get a good price since it is near new. I heard image quality and low light was better on D7000. Any suggestions, or should I return and wait to buy newer model, since D7000 is already 3 years old. Thanks in advance, Missy

Keep the 7000... Sell off the D80.
If you got a deal on the camera there is no reason to return it only to pay more to wait out and purchase something just slightly newer and more expensive with comparable features...?

Keep the D80 as a backup and keep the 7000 also. That is if you can afford it. Otherwise, sell the D80. I sold mine and regret it because it doesn't have the same sensor as the D90 and it shines for landscapes even it it doesn't have all the Mega Pixels. It's the same sensor as the D200 and if you look at pictures done with that camera, they are plenty of great ones out there.

I would keep both lenses until you have a chance to evaluate the 18-140. Make certain you like the new lens before you sell anything. I think you are really going to like the d7000.

From being here, I've come to believe it's always a great idea to keep a backup Nikon! I sure wouldn't sell off a lens too fast, unless your sure you don't like it or don't need it. I don't have clue about the lenses you have, but others here I'm sure will and will be able to advise you! :)
I can say the 70-300 is a great lens for a good price, and even the older ones like mine work great! :)

The other lenses besides the 16-85mm and 18-140mm that I have are the 70-300mm ED (not VR) and the 50mm 1.8. I know the 16-85 is a great lens, but it doesn't seem to have enough zoom to be my everyday lens. I wouldn't have purchased the 18-140 for full price, but since I got the deal for the D7000 and 18-140mm lens bundle for $800, I figured it would be a good time to upgrade my D80.
