Bag and Camera Mount option for the D7000

I use this with my D7000:

Customer Image Gallery for Nikon Adjustable SLR Hand Strap - 5859

Either with or without the battery grip.

The bag seems fairly compact for what it can hold, but I personally prefer basic black for bags to be more unabtrusive.

I alternate between a LowePro Flipside 300, LowePro Nova 180 AW and a LowePro Toploader Zoom 45 AW.

About the capture mount, it seems convenient and would be interesting to try, but at least for myself I like to be very mobile when I shoot and I would always be nervous about bumping the camera if it was clipped to my waist and I'd rather have it near waist height than on my chest so I can grab it more quickly. I suppose if you are shooting with more than one camera it would be useful, although I would prefer straps since you can grab the camera quckly from waist height and not have to worry about it falling out of your hands. But I guess everyone has their own way of doing things.

Call me old school, but I remember the days when pretty much all SLR's came with a two part case, which you could leave the bottom part on the camera to protect it, as part of the deal. Nikon's cases used to be of a very high quality. I still have one for both my Nikkormat FT3 and Nikon F2 (without the motor drive of course) and they are still in great shape. I wonder when camera companies went on the cheap and stopped selling camera cases? It had been quite a number of years between getting my F4, which did have one, and my D700, which did not.

I have the capture and I think my d7000 is too heavy for it, however my 3100 n 5100 are fine.

Is there anyway you can try one at the local camera shop?

That is exactly my problem, the closest camera store is 300 miles away. Best Buy is hardly considered a reputable camera store, with there three Lowepro cases, however... I am quite fond of the Lowepro Fastpack 100

Personally, I think the Rapid straps are way overpriced for what they are. I've been using straps similar to these for quite awhile. They are well made and well priced. I've had my D700 with 150-500 Sigma attached to one on a days outing many times, without an issue.

In regards to the Handstrap questions, I use a Handstrap (off market from Ebay) and also a Neck Strap (Disneyland Mickey mouse style! Ha!)

I have a small Lowpro Sling Backpack for small gigs, and a Large 2 Body holding beast for wedding and larger gigs.

And the case was part of the original package in many cases. I do wish I could still get a case like that, at least the body part, for my current digital cameras.

Always called those never ready cases. My new Nikkormat came with one of those 43 years ago. I didn't use it then & if included now I'd probably put it on the storage shelf.

Yeah but they protect stuff like nothing there is...imagine putting your camera in a never ready and then putting in a bag. Incredible protection. Don't forget never ready cases always had straps incorporated into their design for functionality but I have always used them and still use them more for the high quality protection. They work.

Digital cameras are to bulky for stuff like that...so now you use body armor I guess...when they make us some mirrorless units I bet the never ready type cases make a comeback.
