Bit the Bullet

OKay, I finally bit the bullet (or is it pressed the enter key) and purchased a D7000 body. I realize that the replacement will be out sometime in the spring, but I have been wanting the D7000 for some time now and can afford it. II do not know if I will be able to afford the replacement. Also, I want to take advantage of the autofocus of some of my older AF lenses (from F4 days). I have been using my D3000 since January 2010 and do enjoy using it. I plan on keeping it and using it, also. During my film days, I was always a two camera body user, so going back to having to bodies makes me feel a little more secure.

I'm looking forward to my new acquisition!

Good for you. I am never an early adopter on the digital cameras. I usually buy manufacture refurbished or when they are dropping the price because a newer model is coming. If you watch carefully you will see the newer model that came will slowly drop in price.
I am usually hesitant to purchase an extended warranty probably reading too many Consumer Reports. I think my first digital I bought the extended warranty and nothing happened after that but I guess that is personal decision. If you have the old lenses from the film camera they do work and I was impressed.
Another thing you will discover I don't have the link but if you google there is fellow that has setups for portrait, sports, landscapes modes that you can set up and save to small sd cards and reload them to the camera.
The only disappointment I had is the Nikon uses the same filename when you save it to the sd card; it would have been nice if that could have been customized.

Anyway it has nice feel and I am sure you will enjoy the D7000.

Ciao,

Thanks everyone. I am looking forward to playing with my new toy. :)

I never bother with extended warranties. I, too, have read all those Consumer Reports articles, and have never seen a need for an extended warranty. I am very careful with my equipment, so that helps, too.

I don't worry that the D7000 is not the latest and greatest. It has the features that I want, I have taken some great photos with the D3000, even though a lot of people think it's not that great a camera.

I am having way too much fun with this camera. I really took advantage of the snow today and some of the cool features that this camera has. I haven't even explored most of them. Here is a brief sampling of what I took last night after I had a fully charged battery.
