Just got my first Nikon..a D700 of course. Wondering about the info menu staying on?

My last camera was a Canon D70 and I wanted a Full frame. I had to check out the D700 for myself. So I feel like I figured out most of it but I was wondering if its possible to keep the info on while shooting? It pops up when you hit "info" but goes away once you half click the shutter button. I do also use the LCD screen on the top as well.

Thanks everyone I look forward to learning this thing in and out.

Check the Custom Settings menu, option, "F1 - Light Bulb Switch". I think you can get close to always-on, but I'm not sure...

To my knowledge there is no way to turn the info screen to ON while shooting. I really don't see any reason it should stay on. Why would you like it so stay on?

I think it's because I'm so used to seeing it like that on my Canons.

I would find it very distracting and wouldn't like the fact that it makes the photographer more visible.

Unless... are you talking about when you are using Live View? Because when I have my eye in the viewfinder, the shooting info is at the bottom of the viewfinder. At least the main infos: aperture, shutter speed, iso and focus indicator.
