D70 Auto Bracketing

I picked up a D70 for the sole purpose of it's auto bracketing feature. I have learned the controls of it and have no difficulty setting the parameters....and it's pretty cool. My question is about using the self timer. When I use the self timer, it won't take a bracketed set of exposures, just one exposure. Also, when I use the remote trigger it will only take one exposure. If I take it off timer and use the button it will take a set of 3 exposures......?......It seems it would help eliminate camera shake by being able to use the camera's timer and not my shakey ole hand. So is this a bug or a feature? The camera is in good shape and only has a 4700 shutter count. I've tried shooting in P, A, S, and M modes, all with the same results. The button gives sets of 3 exposures and the timer or remote only takes one exposure. Thanks

Edit: OK, I may have found something in the manual about this. I may have have to just use the remote or timer three times? brb

OK, page 89 in the manual:

"Shooting Mode In single frame, self-timer, and remote control modes, one shot will be taken each time the shutter-release button is pressed. In continuous mode, shooting will pause after the number of shots specified in the bracketing program have been taken. Shooting will resume the next time the shutter-release button is pressed."

If I'm reading this correctly, I am shooting in continuous mode so when I use either the timer or the remote all three shots should be taken.....This is however NOT what is happening. So I guess this is camera malfunction?

I had a D70S, but did not use bracketing, so really, I don't know what I am talking about here.

But read the D70 manual, page 87. Three types of bracketing. First two say it takes one shot per button so three shots are required to complete the sequence. Only the third type (WB bracketing) says three shots per button.

I don't know why the timer or remote are getting involved, but they probably have their own rules. It seems unlikely they work in Continuous mode, no way to hold shutter button for a determined time, and bracketing is really three separate adjusted shots anyway. Bracketing can work the shutter, and continuous can, and timer can and remote can, but they probably cannot directly work either other. I do suspect it simply works how it works, probably no defect.

Is the flash popped up? I think that will prevent it from taking all three at once. But I think that would have also prevented all three with one press when you held the button down.

Just a quick add on note to this "problem". I bought two higher mAh Wasabi Batteries and their charger and things straightened right out. The camera seems much more responsive and "snappier".....no pun intended. The bracketing program works just like it says it should in the book. Just wanted to post this because low voltage can really affect things and may get overlooked. :)
