D-70 Hosed???

I have a nikon D-70 that I use for sport photography. It worked well for me until last Monday. Then it started to take bizarre pics. I tried to adjust the settings, did a factory reset in case I hit a button by accident - but to no avail. The pics look awful - below is a pic of a ceiling fan that I took after I got home. Any ideas as to what the problem would be, or am I due for a new camera???

I know how you feel,i have had a D70 from new and its been slowly packing in over the last couple of years,it would have a problem then it would be ok then the other week i took three pictures of the same subject just different angles and it only wrote one to the card, its now consigned to being a paper weight, time to move on i think.

Well this news is not unexpected. Yes I have experienced some flakiness recently, so I suspected it was on it's last legs. So hearing that it is toasted is not a surprise.

So bearing in mind that I am on a budget, what is a good economical camera for shooting sports. I am hoping that the lens's are still compatible with the latest camera bodies.

Do your lenses have motors in,if not and you have been happy with the D70 then you would be over the moon with something like the D300,it can be noisy at the higher ISOs but no where near as bad as our D70s where.

I'd suggest the D7100, the D5300 or the D3300 (in that order) depending on your budget. Nikon is offering some good deals on refurbs right now you might want to consider.

Your lenses will be compatible, so no worries there but you may find you lose auto-focus if you have "D" variant lenses. The D7100 has an internal focus motor but the other two bodies I mention do not.
