D600 is here and I have a complaint

Dear Nikon,

Why did you see fit to reverse the image zoom buttons from model to model? My D90 and D7000 were absolutely consistent. But after shooting my first frame with the D600 I excitedly pressed the review button and as I went to zoom in it went in the wrong direction. At first I figured I was fat fingering things in my excitement, but sure enough, I did it again and again. Then I pulled out the D7000 and shook my head.

No other complaints. Just messing with it and the images are amazingly sharp. Couldn't be happier otherwise - though I think I was expecting it to feel a tad bit more "solid" than my D7000 (not that it doesn't feel solid - I just expected a little more weight). Time to curl up with the manual and figure out what I don't know.

Yours truly,

Congrats on the new camera:) The D600 has more or less the same proportion of magnesium alloy (top and back) in the frame as the D7000 does.

Yours truly,

I noticed that zoom button is backwards too. But you'll get used to it, lol.

You'll need to add the grip to make it alot more solid. Happy shooting!

For giggles I looked at the D800 and not only are they reversed on their also, but they're shifted up one position, and the OK button is where the + button is on the D7000, not in the center of the selector wheel. Gotta love consistency!! LOL

After using the D300 for 4 years, I bought the D600 and had just a little trouble in pressing and wrong buttons and found it was a little harder to do some small operations on the D600, only because I was so used to the D300. This is normal. Well, I came to the conslusion that the D600 is NOT a D300 and the sooner you get out of the D300 (or whatever other Nikon you had before) mode of thninking and remember you now have a D600, the sooner you'll get around the problem. This is how I got around this problem.

Just to throw some perspective on the subject, I took the D300 out the other weekend and found that I was pushing wrong buttons also... It works both ways. Now I know I am D600 savvy, as far as the buttons and layout goes.. I think..!!! Hahahaha...!!!

LOL. I'm already over it, and I barely have 100 shots on this thing (stupid weather). We all adjust. It's a great camera. The D7000 is going nowhere, but I'm blessed to know that I have "one of each" when it comes to sensor types - and good 'uns at that. I was heartened when I saw that the layout was at least more similar to the top of the line models.
