Supposedly Nikon is moving away from consumer items and is focusing more on pro-level gear. It's a shame because it is a terrific body. I'm certainly not ready to part with mine yet even though I have the D750.

I am sure with so many models coming out every now and then, they won't be producing the older models. however, most mechanism should stay other than the electronics. for me, the D610 is already very advanced and more than adequate. won't be chasing after models.

The D610 is an awesome camera, and really showed me what full frame has to offer. It was a great low cost way for someone to make the migration from the D7x00 into full frame.

The D750 is also an awesome camera, but the D610 just felt better in my hands.

When the original D600 came out, if I remember correctly the full price was around $1999. Then when Nikon replaced it with the D610, that also had the same original price. When the D750 came out, it also came with the same original price as the D600 and D610. Jake @BackdoorHippie was the one who said he wondered if the D750 was really supposed to be the replacement for the D600. But due to the D600's oil problem, Nikon came out with a quick replacement (D610).

What really concerns me is since Nikon is getting away from consumer gear and is supposed to focus more on pro gear, will the replacement to the D750 come in with a price tag in excess of $1999 and not offer an FX body for less?

I wonder how the D610 will be priced during the upcoming holiday season.

Dont know how but i feel Nikon will take their new (soon) mirrorless cameras into account when setting the pricing structure, with such an established foothold in DSLRs i dont see it being easy for them to price the mirrorless.
