Hi all,
Thanks to a great friend on the forum, I am now a new owner of a D600. Coming from the D300 I expect a difference. Especially ISO. With the D300 I tried to stay at ISO 800, and only when I had to pushed it to ISO 1600. I took some test shots with the D600 and was amazed. ISO 6400 looks better than my ISO 1600 on my D300. ISO 1600 looks clean. I am excited for this. The shutter is so much quieter. I like the feel of it. It is just getting use to the differences in the two. When I can I need to get a shorter lens as my only FX lenses starts at 70mm. But I do shoot mostly birds so the longer lenses I use the most. But I have wanted to get back into landscape photography. But it will have to wait a while. I look forward to being a part of this forum and a D600 user.

enjoy Bill, looking forward to seeing your shots with it, the previous owner was pretty good with it too.

I noticed a big enough difference between my former D600 and D7100 that the difference between it and your D300 should be far more apparent. The D600 is a great camera and should provide you with lots of enjoyment in the coming future! My D600 eventually became a D610, and I still use the D610 despite now having a D750 because the D610 really is that good! You will notice a big difference in noise at high ISO. Since I never used a D300, I can't say what other differences you will see, but congrats on a fantastic acquisition!

Enjoy your D600
I have the D610 and yes, it does let you push your ISO much further.
I had a D90 and the D610 lets you go much further.

It is a very capable camera.

I am loving it. Just need better weather so I can really use it. I was hoping Scott trained it so my photos look better. I know I have big shoes to fill replacing him as the user of that camera.

i also moved from D300 to D610. big difference in ISO and color. for birds, i would suggest adding a teleconverter. I am sure you will love it.

I have done fine with the 200-500 on the D600 for birds. I do have the Nikon 1.4 converter I tried for the first time the other day. Seemed to do just fine. I have not looked at the photos yet.
