Question D610 AF does not work in viewfinder

    Hi all,

I dropped my D610 recently (about two feet from my camera bag) in concrete and when I started shooting the AF no longer worked in viewfinder mode. It still works with live view. I use back - button so I checked all my AF settings to make sure nothing changed. For some reason, AF worked in Auto mode but it would not lock so I could not press the shutter. I spent a lot of time researching online but all that I am getting is send my camera to the Nikon Service Center. I am still looking for a possible troubleshooting solution before I finally end up sending my camera to the service center. Any input is really really appreciated.

Did you try a different lens? To determine whether it's the lens or the body?

    Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.

I agree with Fred, try a different lens, if that does not work, try a factory reset.

Hi, yeah I tried different lenses and I had the same problem. I will try factory reset as suggested. I already printed the labels for shipping to the repair center but after i read people's testimonies from another forum, I will try as much as I can to avoid sending it for repair. I hope the reset works.

    Hi @Bikerbrent,
I have tried different lenses so it's really the body that has a problem. I will look into doing a factory reset. Thanks!
