Question TC"s on a full frame camera ???

I have owned quite a few APS-C cameras over the last 10 or 15 years and have never owned a full frame camera. I am considering a D610 in the future. Will the TC's work the same on a full frame as an APS-C camera with the same 1.4 times the aperture equal extended mm focal length ? Feedback appreciated on TC's for full frame cameras. Thanks Bill

As long as the lens if FX it will work.

I use a Nikon 1.4 TC with a D600 and the Nikkor 200-500 all day long.

All you present lenses may not work on a Full Frame camera. Remember that DX lenses do not work properly on FX cameras. FX lenses on the other hand will work on both FX and DX cameras just fine.

Teleconverter and lens compatibility is also important. Use the link to see if your lenses will work with a particular teleconverter: https://www.nikonusa.com/Assets/Comm...omp_chart.html

Here is another Nikon USA page on using teleconverters that might be useful: Using Teleconverters from Nikon

I have used my Nikon 1.4 teleconverter with either my D750 or D610 (can't remember which offhand). You will lose one stop of light which you won't lose if shooting a DX body with a comparable lens. Not all teleconverters will work with all lenses. My Nikon 1.4 teleconverter will only work with a couple of my current lenses. Some people have mentioned using a Kenko 1.4 teleconverter which seems to be compatible with more lenses although I don't know which ones.

I just sold a Canon 70D a short time ago. I will get the D610 but not till after Photokina the end of next month to see what changes to Nikon cameras if any real surprises. Lens wise will wait on that also till after the show. Looking at the 80-400 or the 200-500. I like to do wildlife and birding

    Thanks again to all Bill

DX lenses work just fine on FX bodies. But you usually have to shoot in DX mode or else you'll get a lot of vignetting. There are a few DX lenses that do cover FX sensors, though.

Let me clarify. When using a 1.4 teleconverter on FX, you will lose one stop of light (and you'd lose one stop on DX with it, too), but the comparison is FX with a 1.4 teleconverter compared with a DX with the same lens without a teleconverter. Guess I should have said with the same lens as opposed to what I said which was with a comparable lens. Sorry for the confusion.
