Video Clicking Noise

I have a D600 and when I am taking footage in video mode the camera makes a clicking noise caused by the continuous auto focus. Annoying when in playback mode.
Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Welcome.

External microphone is absolutely necessary to avoid this. No two ways about it. I don't shoot video so I cannot make specific recommendations, but you need to get it outside the body where the built-in microphones pick up everything.

no videographer I know uses af. always manual. they manually adjust every shot uses live view (or canon/sony/panasonic name) to setup accuracy and then shoot in manual.

u cannot get rid of the clicking with nikon. none of the lenses are quiet. some mfr are better than others. every microphone will catch it besides using an external recorder

I tried manual focus and makes a big improvement. Thinking about getting a Rode VideoMicro compact on camera microphone. I do not do a lot of video however sound is still a major factor in getting good results. What do you recommend?

Me? I can't tell you. Not sure where in the Delaware Valley you are, but if you're a close enough drive to Levittown I'd pop into Allen's Camera, bring your camera, a set of headphones, and see what they recommend. They might have something you can test drive there before you buy.

I have a D600 and the Rode microphone, and you can still hear the AutoFocus is the Rode is mounted on the hotshoe. You have to go MF, which is a pain if you just want to record your kid's ballet recital or something with a lot of movement.

That's when an old style, L-shaped flash bracket can be your friend.
