question on previous owned D600/610 camera

I realised the price for pre owned D600/D610 is almost close to D7200. While the D610 (D600 no more retail) is almost double of D7200 when new.

What are the reasons? Too many people letting go of the D600/D610?

The D600 had a lot of problems and Nikon had to repair a lot of them and replace some with the D610. I think people are just afraid of them now. That and the D750 is out now and that camera has newer tech and is a fantastic camera.

As Don said the D600 had its problems but thats par for the course with Nikon, they have said they will sort any that need it and most problem ones will have been sorted, whilst i may be tempted with a D610 its my feelings if you dont have a D600 give it a miss, move on at least one model.

As I see it, the D610 was a slightly rushed out D600 with a couple new features and one less major problem. Great camera and a stone cold bargain on the used market. I have one and it gets used primarily as a backup for my D750. Why a backup? I prefer the ergonomics of the D750. Yes, the availability of a tilt screen (something I thought I'd hate), the extra stop's worth of ISO (at similar noise levels) and 51-point focus is a bonus, but for the way I shoot it's the feel that makes me grab the D750 first.

If money's not an issue, get the D750. But you can get yourself the D610 and a lens or two for the same price and be ahead of the game.

There is a stigma attached to the D610 because of the problems suffered by the D600. Many people received the D610 as a replacement then promptly put them up for sale. Depending on the situation, I still use my D610. Not sure how the sensor of the D610 compares to the D7200, but the D610 sensor is superior to the D7100 when it comes to noise at high ISO.

Given the explanations, isn't the D600 a bargain now if they are giving unlimited warranty for the sensor. Even the D610 is only $150 more at most.

D750 is still selling almost the price of new now.

That's pretty much it. The D300 isn't too expensive these days either, compared to what it went for new. The D600 has been replaced by the D610 and now the D750. The AF system has improved, as has the sensor technology. Still, the D6x0 is a capable camera.

Ok, I will be collecting my preowned D610 today. I hope it is worth the wait but it means also the need to buy new lens.

I will still keep my trusted D300. Will check out with you guys what is the preferred general lens to match and other stuff.

Jake, I took your advice and jump on the D610 when someone let it go at a good price. Which SD card would you recommend for mainly landscape and portrait photos. Video will be very occasional. Thanks

I use SanDisk as a course of habit. For landscapes and portraits you don't need anything particularly fast to help clear the buffer, but I like to stay at 60-95Mbs speeds just in case. Doesn't truly matter in my experience on the brand.

The choice of lens would depend on budget and use. What is your favorite go to lens with your present camera.

Personally I like my 24-120 on my d750. It becomes a good walk around lens,

Now, I'm clearly totally biased, as I have a D610, but in my opinion the D610 is hugely under-rated and does, as mentioned, have somewhat of a stigma attached. Needless to say, I love mine and have no intentions to change body any time soon.

If you twisted my arm and made me say one thing that 'could be even better...', it's low light focussing - when it's really gloomy it does hunt a bit, so the D750 would be better for sure here, I'm sure. The tilting screen would make close-ups of those flowers and fungi much easier too.

Talking of which - true story - I was setting up my camera for a long exposure of a train speeding past - camera left at edge of track and fired by remote. I spent quite some time lying down next to the track trying to set the camera up and pointed in the right direction. I was disturbed by a "ahem, are you ok?". "Eerr, yes, I think so" I replied, slightly confused by concerned yet caring words. "Do you need to talk about anything? Why don't you come up here and talk to us?". Ahhh, I see - they thought I was about to end it all on the railway track. They had been watching me form the window of their nearby house. I told them that if I don't get the train this time, I think I will throw myself under the next one. We all laughed very uncomfortably and they really were less than convinced by my mental state, which I can understand. So, a D750 might have saved a lot of embarrassment. Anyway, I digress. I'll go now before the nurse checks on me.

Yes I have just joined the party. My first few shots with my afd 50 mm f1.8 indoor under low light at iso 1000 was amazing. Something I can't do with my D300.

While the D300 was fantastic, it was an old technology but I love the setting of the buttons. Need time to get use to this D610.

Will take this new toy for a spin today and will shop for a 24-120 f4 lens. Any guys here have used this combination and didn't like it? So far most reviews I read say good things about this lens.

sir i will buy a nikon d610 this coming march and i just would like to us if it is fit for wedding photography....

Howdy Tristan and welcome to Nikonites!

While I've noticed a lot of wedding photographers moving to the D750 from various bodies, the D610 is still a very capable full frame camera. My primary concern is not so much whether the D610 is capable, but what lens(es) you plan to use with the D610 as that will have a bigger impact in your satisfaction.
